I liked the beginning, but after the middle of the book, I found I had better things to read. I'm just not a non-fiction person, maybe. Actually, I never finished Snow Flower and Secret Fan, either! It is fascinating, though, to read about interracial marriages during that era. My own family has interracial marriage in it, so it has always been an interesting and relevant subject.
This book picked up 100 pages into it, and I wanted to see how it all turned out, but overall I thought it was just okay.
