Oh, this book was so good! It started out kind of slow, but began to pick up after a few chapters. Trenton Lee Stewart is such a clever writer. His writing style is definitely suitable for all age. With pretty much every page turn, he'll give you some reason to grin. If you haven't read the The Mysterious Benedict Society series yet, start now -- you won't be disappointed.
What else can you say about a design book inspired by an urban planning book on patterns. This is an encyclopedic book using that reads almost like a wiki bringing you from one chapter to another to another and then back again. I constantly refer to it. I have the first edition of this book. It was also recommended by Jason Fried of 37 signals in his article about design patterns.
