In a generation obsessed with vampires, this was a welcome change. When comparing with some of the other YA series (The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, etc.) I'd have to say I enjoyed this more. The way the main character fell in love with Patch so quickly and without much reason was a bit cliched, but easily overlooked once details of Patch's backstory came into focus. I look forward to reading the next one.
