What a fabulous book, I'm so glad I finally finished it! Neil Gaiman is awesome, and this is a great introduction to him (it's not quite as intense or complicated as some of his other books). Very enjoyable. A note, if you get this in e-book format (like I did, from mymediamall), make sure to adjust the font size as needed so you get to see the illustrations - they're a fun treat.
deborah is not a modest narrator. but i gotta hand it to her- she's engaging and tough as nails. and her life story- covering wars, famines, and revolutions is worth reading not because i learned a lot, but because it made me feel like if she could do it, i could too. and that's empowering. Plus, i felt like she redeemed herself at the end by deciding that a life based on danger, sexsexsexsexsex, and in general the stroking of her own ego, was ultimately, not fulfilling.
