A brilliant book by Rohinton Mistry. All his books provide excellent reading with this parsi bawa twist. This one especially was moving with the old man. Waiting for his new one...he aint written any for nearly a decade. Wonder if he is still around ?
In a more traditionally structured novel, Douglas Coupland paints a picture of the quiet nerd desperation in the pre-dotcom days in Silicon Valley. It follows a group of friends as they quit their drone jobs at Microsoft to create their own program, market it, succeed, and still try to deal with their changing lifetstyles. It definitely plays to Coupland's strengths of realistic detail and capturing the personality and idosynchroses of his characters. He cares for all of them and really humanizes them to the reader. Even if you aren't the most technologically minded person in the world, you can still relate to the protagonists. However, if you are a bit of a geek, you will certainly appreciate the little details Coupland puts into his work.
