The decadent 1920s is a period of history I'm interested in, and here F. Scott Fitzgerald helps us explore the dark side of that particular decade. 'The Great Gatsby' definitely held my interest, not because it said anything profoundly new I don't think, perhaps it was more the writing style. I definitely want to read more of Scott Fitzgerald's work to see if it will have a similar effect on me, maybe then I'll be able to put my finger on what it is i like so much about it. I think its length is definitely a plus, the story doesn't drag on like so many writers would have made it, and this shortness makes it accessible to a wider readership. Its characters aren't exactly the loveable kind, yet we aren't with them long enough to truly detest them either (well, maybe one or two), so we still feel the impact of the tragedy of it all.

This was a fantastic follow up to the first book in the series. I continue to adore Vernon, and I love all the new characters that were introduced in this book too! I think it's amazing the whole world that Mark Alders created in this series, and I love how complex everything is, the nonstop action, and hot sex of course. Great read...now I am eagerly awaiting the third (and final??) book in the series!
