The premise is that the entire human race finds itself mysteriously resurrected on the banks of an enormous river, with a strange container that provides food and other amenities for them. The question is why - is this really life after death? The first book in the Riverworld Saga follows the resurrected Richard Burton as he attempts to unravel these mysteries.
My neighbor in grad school wrote this book, so I felt I needed to support her undergrad senior thesis project. It was very witty, and the references to the university were spot-on. It wasn't a book for geniuses, so I loved it. If you didn't go to school there, I think it would still be good, but you'll be missing half the jokes.
A good book with articles from several perspectives. I liked most of the articles. Robert Rayburn's article, which is attached as an appendix, is worth the price of the book.
Another great story about humanity's innate desire to overcome oppression.
