** spoiler alert ** This book wasn't what I expected. I was kind of excited, the promise of mythology in the book really picking my interest. So imagine my surprise when I started reading the Vampire Academy with a different cover and some terms changed. At first I thought that hey, maybe not everything was the same but even Alex is like Rose, the same personality and physical appearance. Seriously, there are too many similarities, not only the structure of the pure's society, the half-bloods being second class citizens, but the characters and their actions. Alex, the main character, left me wanting. Even though she managed to kill daimons without being fully trained, an incredible feat that surprised even me, she is so childish. Her actions and thoughts made me grimace. At least Rose was in charge, she took Lissa and protected her. Rose's personality is self explained, she's the one that makes the decisions and takes care of her best friend, while Alex just goes along with everything and gives a funny remark. There may have been some instances that made me admire her but I really hope she steps up her game now that she's the second Apollyon. One thing that was special was the writing, I got to admit I was mesmerized by it, everything was so beautifully described, the background, the action and the characters. It made me really curious about Jennifer Armentrout's Lux series and I think I will give it a try. Anyway, if in Pure Alex doesn't start being a child I will probably give up on this series. It's kind of hard to read this kind of ya series after reading original series with kick ass heroines.
