Very good. I remember the characters being very vivid and the twist smacking you right in the kisser at the end. It's been a while since, I still feel the stings on my lips.
An absolutely fabulous militaristic world with danger, intrigue and magic. The protagonist, Yelena, is a kick ass female with great instincts, sharp edges and dry humor. Then there's Valek, the sexy and more-than-meets-the-eye spy, and plenty of adventure. A love story done expertly well while not sacrificing any of the characters - too much. The writing isn't perfect - it's sometimes a little clumsy - but overwhelmingly it's very readable and it's subtle with a great pacing. It's a part of a series, which I can't wait to sink my teeth into.
