Imagine a protracted hostage situation that throws a ragtag bunch of terrorists together with wealthy diplomats as well as one alluring soprano. This book describes the surprising results of such a situation in a way that is surprisingly realistic, tragic, and humorous. This is a magnificent book and a compelling story; it literally had me spellbound for two days.
This one was better than his last few Alex Delaware novels, but I long for the days when there was more Alex and less Milo. I prefer the psychological aspects of the crime to be explored rather than just another cop whodunit. This one did have a lot of twisty turns but I could have done without all the dissing of "eco-terrorists". I did not like the way environmental activists were portrayed. Guess I shoulkd stick to Martha Grimes if I want a fair portrayal of eco/animal rights activists!
