This book is a rare combination of historically educational, politically relevant, and absolutely hysterical. It explores the assassinations of Presidents Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley, which sounds like a morbid topic. But Vowell brings them to life by exploring the political environment surrounding each President, linking it to today's politics, and literally touring the country to visit the various historical monuments linked to these assassinations....with her very young nephew and reluctant friends. What's truly amazing is when she refers to Lincoln's son, who happened to have been present at all three of these assassinations, as "Jinxy McDeath".
Absolutely amazing book. I don't know what else to say.
