2010 - Rereading this b/c teaching to gr.4/5. I'm really enjoying the descriptive writing and will choose a passage for a vizualization exercise. 2005 - I really got into this book. Who knew rats could be so clever?
This book was interesting because of what I learned about Crete and about leprosy. The author seemed a bit detached and cold. She didn't fully develop the characters or their feelings. It was still an interesting read following several generations that at times could be a bit choppy with poor transitions.
