I didn't think it was quite as good as Three Nights of Sin. I would have probably rated it a 4 about 3/4ths of the way through. But something about this book still appeals to me. There were many, many times I had to reread a few sentences when I realized that they could be taken in two different ways, with two different meanings. Deep, or maybe I am just a simple soul. lol
Much more of a police procedure than a thriller like the first one. I have to say that my experiences watching American lawyer shows did not prepare me for understanding the modus operandi of the Swedish courtroom. How exactly were multiple witnesses able to testify/be questioned simultaneously? How could Palmgren testify and be associate counsel at the same time? By the end of this it started to become extraordinarily irritating that somehow Lisbeth was the only tangible victim of this vast government conspiracy. I kept waiting for them all to uncover others but should have known better. Also: if I imagine Blomquist looking like Daniel Craig in my head, then his beyond-this-realm-of-belief appeal to women is acceptable, I guess. But if and only if.
