Found at Know Knew Books in Palo Alto. After the Vietnam War, everyone assumed all the trash talk about American Communism was wrong: the Party wasn't REALLY spying on innocent Americans. Then the Cold War ended, the Soviet archives opened up, and as it turns out, the CP USA really was spying on everyone and trying to infiltrate the government. Go figure.
Right now I'm thinking it's decent. I was expecting something awfully gushy based on the summary and the first chapter. But it's taking a different route and it's better than I expected. PLUS it takes place in Australia and is reminding me of the Judith Clarke novels that I adore so props for that. We'll see how it turns out kids.
I am glad that the next three books are coming out all in a row (and very soon too) because Carlotta needs to make up her mind!
this book was great. It had it all. Kept me guessing until the end. You never saw what was coming until it hit you.
Kodėl aš tai skaičiau. Ir dar iki galo. Na, maždaug visą, nes kai kur žvilgsnis keliavo kas trečia eilute.
Entertaining! An easy read.
One of the most suprising, awake and alive books of short stories I have ever read. Lisa Moore is a Newfoundland writer and her work is truly unusual. Her voice feels sharp, her rhythms unexpected, the lives of her character's are painfully authentic and her stories resonate with meaning. Highly recommend discovering this author's work.
I thought the book was amazing...as are the others this one was full of a lot of suspense!!
To me, this slim volume is what Harold Bloom should be remembered for. This is THE document to read on the subject of Freudian literary criticism.
