I quite enjoyed reading this book! I didn't expect to like it much, to be honest. I found the author's honesty quite amazing, really. I think that she evaluates her success/failure as a mother in a sincere way and recognizes both her strengths and weaknesses. I found myself relating to her on many levels. I can definitely see the advantages of raising children in this way, but also see it totally failing in a Western world. It often depends on the kid being raised, too. I have one child much like Amy's oldest and one (much to my chagrin) like her second. I think the job as mother is to find the middle ground to make life the best it can be for everyone involved. This book really helped me to think about my mothering from a different perspective.
