This book was not one of my favorites. To me there were too many details. It reads like some bizarre hybrid of Delillo's "Underworld" and V.C. "Andrews Flowers in the Attic." If you like both of those texts, God of Small Things is the book for you. If you are looking for a book to include in your syllabus in post-colonial literature, there are others that I would recommend. But don't let that stop you. Many people in the class did enjoy the book, I think the class was divided.
