When I read other rewiews made me angry.To call this masterpiece creepy, and disturbing is stupid. It's just one side opinion of very prejudiced people.Don't belive them!!! Story is bit disturbing but it was told perfectly.I can tell you how book ends but that woudn't spoil reading of this book. Drakulic has wonderful way of writting ,so lyrical and she draws her reader in to story so you feel emocional when you read what happens to charachters. I read few other books by Slavenka Drakulic so I'm her fan.Maybe I'm. Not that objective ;) I think Taste of man or correctly translated is Heavenly Hunger is masterpiece.I read it on Croatian, so maybe as when you translated can't be as wonderful like on original lanuage.I reccomend also If you liked this this book to read Kao da me nema( As If Am not there). If you read more of her, you would see same themes going trough her books and how she is feminist and intellegent woman who knows how to get people to get frrom reader to being the charachter and make you think over your views and thoughts on love, war, violence, abortion, etc... I think Goodreads readers underrated Slavenka Drakulic and did great injustice to such wonderful writter.
