I really enjoyed this book because it focused on a teenager that does not commonly appear in literature: one who has been raised on an Indian Reservation. Junior begins attending school in which he finds himself somewhat of an outcast and faces that all too common peril of adolecence: incorporating both his culture and his desires to be accepted. While some of the occurences in the book are controversial, I feel that they are something that really does occur in real life and would be an exceptional read for my students. Real teenagers can relate to Junior's experiences, regardless of their own personal cultures. I would use this book in my class to both enlighten my students about a culture that is not commonly discussed as well as show them how they can relate to Junior, even if they are different from him.
