I read this one as a free Kindle selection, the formating was off but the story was sooo good. I learned alot about the Apothecary's in England during this time period, and enjoyed the lesson. Well done!
It's strange how just one sentence from Jake can make me seriously dislike him. But then he hugs Adrien and it's 15 time sweeter than a hug from any other character in any other book. He's such a conflicting guy and the little of his personality that I did see in the books makes him terribly interesting. Adrien on the other hand, while adorable to a point is very boring to me. His ramblings annoy me and while I do like characters who can't seem to avoid trouble, I still can't find much will in myself to care for him. Mysteries are not really my thing, at least not when they are the main focus of the story. I find the excessive explanations and explorations never-ending and it is something I skip through until I find a name I've read before. It might steel from the story but honestly, it's also the only reason why I did finish it. I want to know what happens with the two, but I'm afraid the next one will again show just how big of an ass Jake can be, and to get to even that point I will have to read about another impossible situation Adrien has gotten himself into, plus the endless rambling of course. Maybe some other time, thanks.
I'll give any of his books a shot...but I heard from a reliable source that this may be his best.
