This book is so precise - every word seems carefully chosen. Rich characterization, authentic voice, caring adults, and a satisfying conclusion.
I had no idea this book was written as part of the NaNoWriMo project, where writers spend the month of November working to write 50,000 words in a month. It was an engaging, thoughtful, and not overly sentimental read for a period piece, with a realistic romance and vivid characters who didn't overstay their welcome, riding on a wonderfully colorful premise that never strayed too far into the over-the-top-edness I would expect from a book about the circus. A quick read with a disturbing parting anecdote that you will think of again throughout your life. Definitely worth reading.
