I had to read In Our Time before reading A Farewell to Arms, and I hated it. I expected to hate all books by Hemingway, but I was wrong. A Farewell to Arms was an interesting love story even though it was sad. I remember pretty clearly Croft having us read the opening closely and showing us how it mirrored the rest of the text. I believe I was then asked to read this again for my 20th Century Literature class, but also possibly for my Literature Approaches class.
Only read "Real Cool Killers" from the collection. Overly violent, unrealistic, didn't seem to be able to make up its mind what it wanted to be, very disappointing.
