A page turner set at the outset of WW1 in England-- seems like it would make great Masterpiece Theatre. It was just the thing for an indoor day with sick family members-- you just dive in and stay there. Set in and around Cambridge, it has all the elements of a good mystery that keep you hooked.
This is a strong debut novel - an engaging, character-driven book. It alternates in first-person between two sisters whose father murdered their mother when they were little girls. He went to prison and they were abandoned by the little family they had left. The story spans 30 years as the two sisters, each in her own way, grapples and tries to come to terms with their past and present-day lives. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
