i really liked the blend of fantasy, physics, adventure, religion, and even environmentalism. i do think that pullman's own negative view of religion could have been a bit more tempered. he beats his anti-organized religion drum rather loudly. overall, i really enjoyed the books. thanks for the recommendation, ibti!
