I agree with Vaughn--the ending sucked, as did the ending of Cryptonomicon. The beginning was fun, with the Deliverator. But Stephenson seems to think it's okay to build suspense by setting up very intriguing questions that baffle the reader because there is no apparent solution. And then, lo and behold, Stephenson hasn't got a good solution either. He just blows up a mountain and all this gold comes trickling out. Ta-da! The end. All in all, a fun read, but probably better if you're taking enough drugs so that the ending either makes sense or else you can supply your own mind-blowing revelations.
