The author Patricia McCormick wrote this book in the point of view of the main character,"Callie." Callie is at a mental facility," Sea Pines," for cutting herself whenever she feels alone, hurt, and or depressed. In the begining of the novel Callie starts out as this quiet girl who doesn't talk to anyone around her. So her roomate Sydney nicknamed her "S.T", for silent treatment. She normally just stares into space and reminisce the past. McCormick wrote the novel so that you can read Callie's thoughts, and understand her reason for everthing she does. The high piont in the novel was when Callie finally began to speak. The night when/ I'm not finished writing the review... I'm taking a break and will get back to it later!
This book was better than I thought it would be. It wasn't overly preachy about global warming until the end and I thought the story was good. I also liked the diary format. At the end of the book there was not only a glossary disguised as part of the story (the book is British and uses some British slang) but a list of places teens could go to get more information about global warming. I would definitely give this book to an eco-conscious high schooler or middle schooler.
An incredible samplling of the Old Testament and why its still relevent to christians today. It really digs deep and gives you a new thirst for reading those books that no one really preaches out of, and are much less read.
World War Z is comprehensive and compelling (and scary) -- I loved the oral history format and Brooks's vivid world-building. It was one of those books that I had to pull out of every so often to remind myself that my world is not crawling with Zed. Best zombie book ever!
