This story grabs you and doesn't let go until the last page. Bullying, its consequences, and the inaction of others is central to the story, leaving the reader to empathize with shooter Peter. I was left to ponder who the real perpetrator was?
The story lines are definitely for the younger reader, but they are easy reads, particularly when I am waiting for somebody at a coffee shop etc.
What a wonderful story. As soon as I read the first short chapter I was hooked. I love how this author writes. This story is about a girl who is in love were a wolf. A werewolf, but there are no moons involved. The wolves are human during summer and wolves during winter. Their winters are counted though until one year they stay a wold forever. Grace tries to find a way to stay with the wolf/boy that she has loved since she was little. How to keep a boy from changing back into a wolf? Read to find out. It is a very sad story and I found myself tearing up at some points. Read to enjoy!
This might be fun to read with The Mitten...a bunch of animals making something smaller instead of making something bigger. Good illustrations for storytime. The plot IS easy to follow, but that just makes it just right for a toddler group. Loved the page where they're all looking bemusedly at the very small piece left in the liner.
Reminded me of Augusten Burroughs' writing. Only better.
