Interesting and I learned a few new things like the fact that there are petrified forests in Yellowstone. I didn't know that. Otherwise it was a quick easy read - not too meaty. Nice bibliography in the back with descriptions.

Can't remember offhand how long ago I read the first in the series, but it took me a good 40 pages to remember what happened. After that point, when this book started to make real sense, I started to enjoy it much more. I like that it was easy to read and relatively fast. I thought the "Block and Shelley" storyline was entertaining, too. It all read like a Scooby-Doo screenplay at times, but once I got over that I found myself enjoying the plot. I've decided to go against my normal routine and opted to read the last installment in the series, The Pagan Stone, right away. Should be interesting...

Even though the book is lengthy, the humor kept me in stitches compelling me to read on and I finished it in no time. Joining Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, who are both just a little off, on their unusual escapades from one kingdom to the next was a refreshing distraction from my life - which mainly involved feeding my newborn every three hours, diaper changing, preparing meals, cleaning and all of these things done in the convenience of my own home. Cervantes' style of poking fun using exaggerated situations and feelings to present his arguement really hit a cord with me and I was entertained as well as won over.

It was a cute book about high school relationships and a fast read (a perfect beach read). I received a free advance proof at IRA in Toronto. If you're interested in reading it, let me know and I can let you borrow it.
