He's fun and bitchy, and this is a quick, light read.
Supposedly the first in a series of the character Freda Klein. Personally I think this is a mistake. Too many authors are employing this serial character technique, which may be OK if the character is interesting / lovable/ strong etc. Freda is absolutely none of these and I for one will not buy another 'FREDA' story. Bookwise this was OK but much of the plot was too easily guessable and although well constructed as all Nicci French books are, it lacked spark and interest. Not strongly recommended
This is an interesting story that goes on way too long. As an intelligence expert, multiple meetings at multiple hours in multiple Buenos Aires cafes is probably interesting stuff. For the average reader, though, it’s pretty dull. This book would be better if it were 50 pages shorter. Still, it’s a fascinating story that is part of the birth of a fascinating country.
Co bych k tomu dodala? Ještě před pár dny jsem chvílemi uvažovala nad pouhou jednou *. Faktem je, že námět je opravdu dobrý, ale podání mi vůbec nevyhovovalo. Střídaly se pasáže, kdy jsem s nechutí sledovala pomalý proces čtení s pasážemi, které jsem hltala a snažila se dozvědět víc. Po prvních stránkách jsem si byla jistá tím, kdo je kdo - aby mi pak vše autorka po třičtvrtě příběhu snaživě vyvracela. A já nakonec zjistila, že moje teorie na začátku byla naprosto správná. Ve výsledku jsem knize dala 3*, i když stále přemýšlím, jestli to není moc nebo málo. No, uvidíme, jak si autorka pohraje s pokračováním ...
This is probably one of my favorite books by Jodi. I might be a little biased because she is my favorite author. I read this book a while ago so I don't remember it all that well but I do remember that I really liked it and couldn't put it down. Great book!
