I decided I wanted to read this a long time ago, then when I actually bought it I was questioning whether I still wanted to, but I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed The Book of Luke, it just goes to show the truth is always the best path.
Quirky and offbeat tale about a Englishman who gets a job he didn't apply for, as a lecturer at a University in Bucharest just before the fall of Ceaucescu. It's a outsiders view of a city in turmoil and a dictator state teetering on the brink.
Hard to rate this book. It's like nothing I've ever read, completely maddening at times -- the pace will physically make you dizzy. But hilarious and the honesty (or sarcasm, you can't tell) is at times jaw-dropping.
