The writing was great and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about some of my favorite authors, poets, and artists in the setting of their own time but I felt so defeated and sad towards the end. I knew what was coming and I know what Hemingway was like but I still couldn't extract myself enough from Hadley's pain to enjoy the last of the book. I suppose that means that McLain did a wonderful job with the book and I'm not arguing that but it touched too deep to a raw nerve for me.

This book is about fate. I do not want to give more away, but it is a great book about people coming together with one purpose.
