I chose this book partly because of its background setting, I like country / remote settings and have no interest in books with city / fast life settings. I did find it an enjoyable read and the characters are mostly well described and we get to know them as real people. Oddly Elizabeth herself seems one step removed from it all at times, perhaps because she is the incomer. She seems very unprepared for her new life - her new home itself and the people she has as her pupils. Maybe this would arise from being in a city environment previously rather than seeing people and interacting with them individually, also not expecting them to see her as a person rather than just a tutor or as an anonymous neighbour.
The second of Heather Huffman's books. Again, this is undeniably a romance, and is an enjoyable read with a very serious understory. Another bonus is that this book is available for free on all the major e-readers!
