Less fantasy than I thought--and less talk of the Shadow City. However, lots of mystery solving girls using their girl power to kick butt. Can't go wrong with that!
I checked this out after an enthusiastic review at a reading group meeting. It has quite an unusual narrative structure as it is written in the form of a letter from its protagonist Beatrice to her missing sister, Tess, giving an account of her search for her. Due to that there is a degree of stream-of-consciousness about the style. It certainly works well and the book and I were inseparable for the day and a bit it took me to read it. Certainly an author to watch given such an impressive debut.
