To say that this is one of the best fantasy novels ever would be an understatement, the narrative, characterisation, the story itself are beyond excellent. The hard edge of realism is also a joy to behold in a children's book, death is ever present and does occur. A book I will undoubtedly come back to, again and again, later on in life.
I love John Irving... this is one of his classics
