Can't say enough good things about this series or author. She's caused so many people to read again, and so many of my kids and cousins love her. I think that's amazing in and of itself, but I just love the creativity and the consistency among books. I get so irritated reading series when authors make mistakes... if I'm catching them, why don't they? She doesn't make any... and always leaves me wanting more!
It's the pictures that I always remembered fondly.
My sister has been telling me that I and my daughter need to read this book. (Hi Pam!) Well my 8 year old read it and liked it and then gave it to me to read. I don't know if I read this book when I was younger, it seemed familiar (but perhaps just because the characters are strong and independent girls and that bears a close resemblance to that random made for TV movie I watched over and over years ago.) Anyway, I did like the book a lot. I think my daughter will have to pick it up again in a few years and will get more out of it then.
"This is one of the most profound and heart wrenching book I have read so far. It's narrative is flawless, written with so much of compassion and I think it pushes us to think that at some point in our lives, we are expected to make a choice. Sometimes, there is a rationale to it and somtimes, there are only Emotions. Read the book first and then watch the film. Only for Meryl Streep!
