John Irving has the strangest way of saying the most moving things...the last page of this book is an invitation to give your tear ducts an exercise. It's well written, if a little long, and hits you with such strong humanistic messages that you sometimes wonder if the story is secondary to the messages. Probably one of the better books I have read in a long time, though.
Not a bad story, especially because it's based in the future which the geek in me always likes. Quite a few detailed sexual references which is a bit off-putting. But I liked how hew describes how the landscapes and views in New England change during the seasons. Definitely makes me want to visit that area even more.
