Black Rain, by Graham Brown, is almost dead on my favorite reading subject. A search is on into the depths of the Amazon rain forest on the trail of a previous explorer who had found remnants of a civilization preceding the Mayans. There are some tantalizing objects that were found on that first deadly expedition. Only the lead explorer briefly survived. Those objects and the way they were created could change the world forever. This is a thriller with everything. You don't know who to trust. It flows well and keeps your mind visualizing a most dangerous previously unknown ancient adversary. A bloody battle to the death ensues but with who or what? I give this a 4 out of five on my THRONE LIST. This is one you guys will enjoy while spending your "private time" reading.

I can't believe this woman is still alive. She drinks so much it is hard to believe. One of her psychiatrists ought to be sued and have her license revoked. Reading this book makes me feel a little like I've had too much coffee, like a movie that is so intense it makes your palms sweat. One thing I can't understand is where did all the money come from, did her writing really cover all those expenses? In between all the bipolar episodes she must have somewhat of a normal life, I wish she had of touched on that.

This book is from the Heartsong Presents historical series, sweet historical romances in various settings with an inspirational theme. This particular book is set in Massachusetts during the early years of the Revolutionary War. An ardent Patriot, eighteen-year-old Delight Butler carried messages in 1776 Boston, hoping to do her part for the cause of liberty. But then her father decided to move his family from the British-occupied city to the quiet countryside town of Chesterfield. A year and a half passes, and Delight longs to do something for American independence. When Henry O'Neill, a wounded British soldier, is brought to the Butler home for recovery, Delight resents having to care for one of the enemy. A poor Irishman, Henry had enlisted in the British army in hopes of starting a new life in America after the war. However, Henry's time in the Butler home convinces him the British are wrong, and that the colonies should be free. And soon Delight and Henry begin to fall in love, but Delight fears for the future and Henry doesn't believe she loves him. This was a pretty good romance that fans of colonial settings should enjoy. The romance and characters were better developed then in many other Heartsong books, but the ending was rather abrupt and I wish it could have had more detail. I'd recommend this book to readers who enjoy sweet historical romances with early American settings.
