This was a wonderful story - it truly engaged the reader. I was sorry to have it end - I really wanted more. There was a wonderful combination of fantasy, mystery, love and a deep exploration of the human spirit.
Wickedly (and quite often smuttily) hilarious. I laughed and laughed. Oh yes -- also the best novel written in the English language. William Faulkner read it yearly throughout his adult life, and I can see why. If I only had three books, this would be one of them. If you can find an Arion Press edition, buy it for the woodcut prints in it -- really beautiful.
Membaca novel fiksi ini, jiwa ini dibuat tertegun oleh sebuah gambaran kepolosan anak-anak, kekuatan iman, keteguhan hati, kegigihan, dan keceriaan anak-anak Aceh... Satu hal yang membuat kagum pada novel ini adalah, ending yang apik dibuat oleh Tere-Liye, ending yang mengajak pembaca untuk berfikir, sebab tidak to the point digambarkan, namun tersirat dan tersurat dari kalimat yang dibuatnya....
I had some issues with the conclusion, but definitely found this a creative and gripping series. I was completely immersed!
