First, quick impressions (8 May 2010): I'm torn between the prose of the book, the sometimes-unbearable description of the war, and how the movie captured EVERYTHING so well that made reading this book for the plot almost pointless. But I can't help it, McEwan writes beautiful, transcendant prose.
