'Little Bee' is a book that, although not knowing much about it, somehow draws you in from the very first sentence. Disturbingly beautiful, dark and yet uplifting, this is a book that you will continue to remember and think about long after reading. I don't want to give too much away about the storyline, I think not knowing makes the story so much more enjoyable and deeper than if you'd read a brief synopsis previously. I would not recommend this book to those who may be faint hearted, as at times, it is not an easy book to read and can bring on a vast array of emotions. ( I cried several times, but then again I'm a softy. ) I also found that I wanted to take my time with this book, I wanted to really absorb everything that was going on, and get inside Little Bee's mind. It has been a long time since a book made me think and feel so much, and Chris Cleave did a wonderful job.
Took some time to get into, but was worth the work. Gave a modern portrait of Afghanistan. It's fiction, but was educational.
