I wanted to read this book because this author is one of my favorite bloggers...her sense of humor and ability to make even the most gut-wrenching topics not just palatable but actually somewhat humorous makes her blog, Dooce.com an enjoyable read. And the same humor that makes her blog so funny makes this book just as interesting and fun to read even though the main topics of childbirth and depression are, many times, very unpleasant. The only part of this book that I did not like was that you could tell that she is a blogger and is used to writing short stories about specific topics in her life. Consequently, there were times when the chapters and even some of the stories within the chapters felt slightly disjointed. But that certainly did not take away from her book, which will leave you with a new found respect for the author and for new mothers dealing with depression while caring for a newborn.
