A story of suspense as visceral as that of a serial killer's knife. Unfortunately, it's also as senselessly gratuitous, so while, yes, I admit to having remained (ahem) hypnotized for the first half, I nearly gave up come midway (a little too obvious that a man wrote those exceedlingly looonnngggg sex scenes & even more obvious that he's got some serious hang-ups witht the V). Still, it picked up again close to the end, and when the mystery was on, it was on. (My advise -- if you want brutal Nordic lit, stick with Jo Nesbo's "The Snowman."
