I loved this book, and was very happy to see that Max Brooks was able to translate his wonderful Zombie survival guide bits into a fully realized story. The story is told as a series of interviews with survivors. This structure, although not unique, is very well suited to this story. Character development is excellent, imagery is detailed, and many of the short stories in the book are quite gripping. The interview format creates a uniquely human tale. Many zombie films boil down to questions about the essence of human nature: what happens when strangers are forced to band together under horrific conditions in order to survive? This book certainly explores those ideas, but does so on a far more personal level. It's a fun book, and one that I'd recommend without reservation to any fan of genre fiction.

I have read several DeMille books and have loved them all but this... this was just OK. I hate to say bad things about anyone's work, especially an author I happen to like so I will just say that either he got lazy with this one or someone else is writing under his name.

Continues right on from the first book. I think the second book in a trilogy is often a bit of a letdown. The first is new and exciting and the last ties it all together. However I still really enjoyed it. But took a break before reading the third.
