it swept me up and immediately took me to a cool, green, serene mountain. Harvesting from the fields, picking fruit from the trees, walking along dirt roads and glancing at an old couple sitting on their wrap around porch. It was so real to me, I could feel the cold crisp air when it started to snow.
this is another one of those books that i love to recommend because it has stuck with me for so long (when you read an average of a book a day or so, things tend to come and go). i actually started dreaming about this book while i was reading it. it's half science fiction and half historical fiction (u.s. slavery) and all kinds of goodness.
