Didn't like this as much as the first outing. Wonderful art, but the story seems to be made up as it goes a-long, which isn't such a bad thing unless the artist is lost. I stopped caring about the characters.
I resolved to read a novel by John Cheever and was pleasantly surprised when, once immersed in Falconer, I discovered how graceful and insightful a writer Cheever was. The tone often reminded me of Fitzgerald and some of the lyricism was breathtaking. The subject and plot may have been a little over the top, but the style more than made up for it.
