Like many college students, Kevin Roose decided to spend a semester studying in a foreign culture, a place with a different language, and different political and social views than his own. Only he decided to spend his semester at Liberty University, Jerry Falwell's "Bible Bootcamp" as Roose calls it. Roose spends his semester trying to understand the values, similarities and differences between his Liberty friend's Evangelical Chrisitian college (and life) experiences and how they compare to those of his secular friends at Brown University. While Roose doesn't completely understand all the reasons that his new Liberty friends have choosen Liberty and all that comes with it, he is surprised to find that he is being drawn into it as well. Roose's experience is a very interesting look at Liberty University, and surprisingly, the Evangelical Christian students at Liberty are not that different from other students in many ways (except for the no drinking, no touching, no R-rated movies, etc.). This book gives more than a right or wrong (moral majority vs. liberal) look at Jerry Falwell, Liberty University and Conservative Christianity.
