I listened to this book on audio. I was engaged in the story and I liked it, however I did feel that there was something missing. I don't know what was missing but it just seemed like something was. Throughout the story, I was wondering where the plot was going. I didn't really get my answer until the end of the book. I think the author could have fleshed out the plot a little more in the beginning and middle of the story. This was a debut novel, so there is only room for improvement.
This is one of the few books that made me just sob out loud for a good 20 minutes. Why would I recommend it? It's one of the most honest examinations of family dynamics of abuse that I've ever encountered. Love and abuse are not mutually exclusive experiences.
