Tremendous! Could not put it down. Told the kids to hunt for their own food until I could finish the book. Adventure, philosophy, cool nerdy stuff.....most exciting book I ever read.

I LOVED this book. Couldn't put it down. I love the story, and especially love the language that Gaiman uses to describe the various things that Tristan experiences on his journey-- from food to flowers to the rooms where he stayed and everything in between. I was very surprised by some of the negative reviews here-- it seems that many readers were bothered by what they perceived as graphic descriptions of sex and violence. I didn't really think of these few scenes as graphic when I was reading, and to me, they took nothing away from this beautiful book! This is definitely a new favorite for me-- I saw the movie several years ago and loved it. I was worried that I might not enjoy the book as much because I had already seen the movie, but for me, the book was so much better. I just wish it was longer! Highly recommended!

I have a very old copy of this book from when I was really little. I can remember running down our hall and wanting to sit in my father's lap as he read it to me. I believe this book is my first memory of books and reading. The story is about a mouse who lives in a church in the city, but he longs to live in the country that his mother tells him about. When he grows up, his siblings are happy in the city, but he takes an adventure to get to the country. The illustrations are simple, but cute and effective.
