Surprisingly good and a very quick read. If you're a fan of Tabatha Coffey's you'll probably love it.

Fills in the rest of the Trojan War story after the events of the Illiad.

One of the biggest UK fiction sellers of 2005, it was part of a 3 for 2 offer in Borders, what the hell, might as well give it a try. Having finished it, I was slightly disappointed. The story moves at a cracking pace, and it does grab you - I was up at 1am a couple of times, absolutely engrossed. The characters are slightly two-dimensional, but the author does seem to know her stuff when describing the various French locations and history of the region. There are some slightly annoying (and unnecessary) Americanisms ("speak with" and "meet with" ). On the whole, the style is what you would expect from a book of this sort. It's not going to win any prizes for literature. The plot does leave several questions unanswered and these holes are glossed over. It's a pity, because the author's website continually goes on about how it took her 6 years to write this novel. This is the ideal book to take away on holiday when you want something stimulating but not too taxing.
