This is one of my favorite books Hannah and I have read together. I know she was imagining what it would be like for her to survive on her own, make friends with the animals, etc.
I loved this book. What a tragedy for the North Korean people. I realize now that I didn't know much about the history and certainly nothing of the great suffering endured by North Koreans. As a mother, the stories of starving children have broken my heart. I hope that their suffering ends soon and the regime falls. I also cannot read to read Logavina Street: Life and Death in a Sarajevo Neighborhood by the same author. For some reason that book is listed for over $200 on Amazon! My library has one copy, which is checked out and I am next on the list. Why so difficult to find?
