Interesting memoir about his West Point education and combat as a Fighter pilot in the Korean war. The rest of the book was more episodic, and maddingly elliptical. Its a memoir that still keeps a lot of secrets. Salter is considered a "writers' writer." I suspect his admiration by many authors may be envy of his career as a fighter pilot, his peripatetic existence in Europe as a screenwriter, and his apparent numerous affairs.
